葡聚糖羧基/羧酸，Dextran的分子量有4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, 9000, 10000, 20000, 40000, 70000；常用的有机溶剂是DMSO和二氯甲烷；外观是呈粉状固体。
葡聚糖一机多用，具有长支链的葡聚糖，亲水性间隔臂，提高蛋白质作用于大分子的性能。低分子右旋糖酐用作稳定剂，润滑剂，体积扩展，结合平台，和基质成分。较高的分子量葡聚糖具有不同的粘度，聚集和渗透性能。葡聚糖羧基化后可用EDC等缩合剂缩合至蛋白或者核酸上,两者形成稳定的化合物,葡聚糖的效用更加稳定优越。
Dextran is multi-purpose, with long branched chain dextran and hydrophilic spacer arm, which improves the performance of protein acting on macromolecules. Low molecular dextran is used as stabilizer, lubricant, volume expansion, binding platform, and matrix component. Higher molecular weight glucans have different viscosity, aggregation and permeability properties. After carboxylation of dextran, it can be condensed to protein or nucleic acid by EDC and other condensing agents. The two forms stable compounds, and the effect of dextran is more stable and superior.
